Bringing Baby Home To Meet Older Siblings? Try These Top Tips For a Successful Introduction

Bringing a new baby home is always a cause for great happiness but your older child may not be as welcoming and overjoyed.  Here are a few tips and advice for easing sibling anxiety when meeting the newest member of the family.

Gift Giving

Have the siblings bring a gift each to give to the baby at the hospital.  It could be as simple as artwork made by big brother or sister, a special toy or a book for the new baby.  This will give big brother or sister a special part to play in the new baby's arrival home.  And the experience will make becoming a big brother or big sister an exciting and happy one.

Introducing The Baby Bump

With the first hint of your baby bump start talking about the "bump" as the new baby.  Identify the "bump" as where the new baby is living and include big brother or sister in planning the nursery and shopping for baby clothes for when baby comes out the bump and comes home.

Special Time

Make it a priority to set aside some time every day to focus on your older children.  Perhaps, go to the park with baby asleep in stroller while you hang out with the older siblings or have a special story time when you read a few quiet stories or do some arts and crafts together.  Reinforcing to older siblings that they are still special to you will help their acceptance of the new baby.

Group Hugs

Every new parent will hug and kiss their new baby which often creates jealousy in older siblings. How about special group hugs where baby and siblings are hugging mom and dad. Hug them and tell them how proud you are of them for being such a great older brother or sister. Affection its always a cure all.

Look At Old Photos

Have a family moment and site with your kids and look through their baby photo album from when they were born. Kids love to see pictures of themselves and hear their birth stories. It will help them understand the process or being born and coming home to mom and dad.

Tips For Cleaning Your Children's Rooms

Keeping your child's room clean is essential to avoid allergies and other ailments.  In addition to your basic cleaning routines, pay special attention to the chemicals in the products you use.

Tips for cleaning your child's room are:

Ventilate the premises daily - it is very important that a child's room is aired out daily.  Leave the windows open so that fresh air can circulate the room;

Select green products - Avoid cleaning products with strong smells.  Instead use products with a neutral or odorless aroma.

Vacuum Vacuum Vacuum - Don't just vacuum the floor, use on upholstered armchairs, cushions, curtains, even in baby's crib. Once a week vacuum the crib or bed mattress.

Change the bedding twice a week - Along with changing sheets and pillowcases also wash pillow cushions and mattress pad.

Wash stuffed toys - although beautiful and give a special charm in the decor, stuffed animals tend to accumulate dust. Therefore they should be washed regularly.

Keep children out of their rooms when you are cleaning.  Often times they are very sensitive to allergies.

Happy cleaning.

A 9 Year Old Becomes A Millionaire Through His Paintings

They are those who say our destiny is determined before we are born, while others believe we create our own after we are born.  I believe childhood is often a time when a glimmer of our destiny is first seen.

Kieron Williamson, a British boy 9 years old, sold his paintings for several tens of thousands of dollars.  Through his work he will soon become a millionaire.

As reported in the www.BBC.co.uk, reporter David Keller writes:

Working in the media I have the privilege of meeting people with remarkable talent.
But as I patiently listen to cats snoozing in the living room of a rustic country home, it hits me that the person I'm waiting to interview has been so successful that he bought the surrounding bricks and mortar last year when he was aged just eight.  And as he bounces through the door after a good day at school, it strikes me that the artist I last met two years ago is still pint-sized... but now he's almost a millionaire.

Last week 24 of Kieron Williamson's latest pieces sold for a combined £250,000.
This week the public is getting the chance to see them up close, along with his first ever paintings, at a career-spanning exhibition in Holt, Norfolk, a fortnight before he turns 10.  But does he even think about the money? "No," says Kieron, rather abruptly for such a shy boy, "but I like it a little bit".

Kieron's talent was first discovered by his parents on a family holiday to Cornwall at the age of five and since then his artistic ability has shown no signs of slowing down.

'My style's changed'
He hit the headlines in 2010 when his first major art sale fetched £150,000 in half an hour. Since then he has had hundreds of requests from people around the world to paint for them, including high-profile celebrities and royal family members. "I'm not painting as many, but I think they're better quality than they were," says Kieron, sitting in his art studio in his new home in Ludham on the Norfolk Broads.

"My style's changed and I've now got every medium."

How Big A Role Does Society Play In Children's Intelligence

I came across an interesting article shared on Twitter.  Flummoxed by Failure - or Focused?  Can our own attitudes towards learning play a large role in our children's lives from a young age?

An interesting article written by The Wall Street Journal's Ken Bain explores this subject matter.

Pitti Bimbo Summer 2012 Kids Designer Fashions

We will share with you several of the children's fashion brands appearing in this years Pitti Bimbo fashion shows.  We will take you right to the runways to preview each collection as it is unveiled. Take a look at Miss Blumarine 2012 collection.

A soft and precious season. Dresses of taffeta and balloon-skirts made by nuanced tulle that enhance prints with fine details and embroidered with sequins calla lilies. The trench coat is created with lace, in a wardrobe that loves the overlapping and unique pieces such as small embroidered shawls. A romantic inspiration features the safari theme, reinterpreted in a dreamy way: on the light white of desert and on the reflections of the sand that color the cotton boucle, gold thread and tinsel textures weave themselves for clothing and tutu skirts, little cardigans and blouses with puffed sleeves.

Adorable
